ZIMvBAN: Bangladesh finally saved the honor, won the last ODI, won the series 2-1 against Zimbabwe

Harare: Bangladesh registered a consolation win over Zimbabwe (Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe) by 105 runs in the third and final one-day international here on Wednesday. Zimbabwe, who have already won the series by winning the opening two matches, were bundled out for 151 in 32.2 overs at Harare Sports Club in reply to Bangladesh’s 256 for nine.

For Bangladesh, opener Anamul Haque scored 76 runs in 71 balls while Afif Hossain scored an unbeaten 85 off 81 balls. It was not a big score on a batting friendly pitch but the hosts Zimbabwe could not take advantage. Zimbabwe, after losing one wicket each in the first and second overs, lost two wickets in the sixth over, taking the team’s score to 18 for four.

Zimbabwe continued to lose wickets at regular intervals in the 23rd over as the score was reduced to 83 for nine after the last two batsmen Richard Ngarwa (34 not out) and Victor Nyauchi (26) took the second best of the match for the final wicket. Worked up the margin of defeat by sharing 68 runs. After these two, the highest contribution in the team’s score was 25 extra runs.

Under the guidance of new coach Dave Houghton, Zimbabwe won its first ODI series against a top country since 2017. Zimbabwe also won the T20I series 2–1, their first series win in this format against a top team.
