Women’s World Cup: India to host Women’s World Cup, new tournament will also start

Birmingham, The ICC has announced the hosts of the women’s cricket tournament to be held from 2024 to 2027. There will be four events during this period. The 2025 Women’s One Day World Cup (2025 Women’s World Cup) will be played in India. Earlier in 2013 also India had held the Women’s World Cup. 8 teams will participate in this tournament and 31 matches will be played. The decision was taken at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Birmingham.

Events in Bangladesh too
The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in Bangladesh. Earlier, the 2014 Women’s and Men’s T20 World Cup was played in Bangladesh itself. It will be held in September-October and a total of 23 matches will be played between 10 teams. Australia is the defending champion of both the men’s and women’s World Cups. In 2020, Australia won the T20 World Cup title by defeating India itself.

World Cup in England too
England has got the host of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. The number of teams in the tournament will increase from 10 to 12. A total of 33 matches will be played between them. The matches will be held in June. The first Women’s T20 World Cup was played in England in 2009. ECB Interim CEO Claire Connor said: “We are delighted that we have been selected to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. We looked back in 2017 to see how hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup captured the imagination of people. I will never forget that day.’

Women’s Champions Trophy will be organized for the first time. The Champions Trophy has been organized in men’s cricket in the past as well. But in women’s cricket, its matches will be in T20 format. There will be 16 matches between 6 teams.
