According to the BCCI note, “In addition, each team cannot have more than five foreign players in the playing XI. Out of these, four players will be from ICC’s full-time member countries and one player will be from ICC’s associate member countries.
The Women’s Big Bash League in Australia and The Hundred in Britain cannot have more than three foreign players. There are total 15 players in each team. The board is also considering that due to the limited number of teams, it will not be possible to organize matches on the home ground and the opponent team’s ground. The tournament can be organized immediately after the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa from February 9 to 26.
According to the BCCI, “Organizing matches in WIPL on home and opposition grounds will be challenging. Therefore it is suggested that the first 10 matches be held at one place and the remaining 10 matches at a different location.
As far as the sale of teams is concerned, it could be on a regional basis and the board is selecting two cities from each region. These include Dharamsala/Jammu (North Zone), Pune/Rajkot (West), Indore/Nagpur/Raipur (Central), Ranchi/Cuttack (East), Kochi/Visakhapatnam (South) and Guwahati (North-East).
