Sylhet: The second semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup was played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka (PAK vs SL). India had earlier defeated Thailand in the semi-final. Sri Lanka secured a place in the finals after winning this match. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 122 for 6 wickets. In reply, Pakistan fought till the last ball but lost by one run.

Sri Lanka were given a good start by their openers Chamari Atapattu and Anoushka Sanjeevani. There was a 23-run partnership between the two. After this Harshita Madvik, who came out to bat at number 3, took over the innings. He scored 35 runs in 41 balls. No batsman made a big contribution in the lower order and the team could only manage 122 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Nashra Sindhu sent the maximum 3 batsmen to the pavilion for Pakistan.

Muniba Ali gave a quick start to Pakistan. After three overs, the team’s score was 31 runs, but after that Sri Lanka made a comeback. Captain Bismah Maroof scored 42 runs but he took 41 balls for it. Pakistan needed 13 runs to win in two overs. Inoka Ranaveera took one wicket for 4 runs in the 19th over. In the last over, Pakistan needed 9 runs to win. Achini Kulsuriya bowled tight and did not give any chance to the batsmen. The team needed 3 runs on the last ball but Nida Dar was run out in taking the second run.

Sri Lanka won the match by one run and secured a place in the final. Ranaveera took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Now India and Sri Lanka will compete in the final match on October 15. Sri Lanka are still waiting for their first Asia Cup trophy.
