Washington Sundar: Washington Sundar is not getting luck, now out of Zimbabwe tour

New Delhi: Indian off-spinner Washington Sundar’s return to international cricket will be delayed further. He suffered a left shoulder injury while playing in the Royal London One Day Cup for England county side Lancashire. Due to this injury, he will not be able to take part in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, starting on August 18. Washington Sundar has been out of the team several times for almost 12 months due to different problems. He was also found corona infected in January.

On Sundar’s injury, a BCCI official told PTI, “Yes, Washington Sundar is out of the Zimbabwe series. He sustained a left shoulder injury while fielding during the Royal London Cup match between Lancashire and Worcestershire at Old Trafford. He will rehab at the National Cricket Academy. A person with knowledge of the matter said, ‘You feel bad for Vashi. Such a talented player. Some kind of problem is coming in their way. They need luck. Now he got injured a week before playing for India.

His injury break began in July 2021. He got injured while playing a warm-up match for the county team against India. His finger was fractured on the delivery of Mohammad Siraj. Due to Corona, he could not go on the tour of South Africa. After playing the ODI series against West Indies in February-March, he was unable to play T20 due to hamstring. He had to sit out in the Sri Lanka series as well.

He also missed five matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL due to injury. On his return he took 5 wickets in the very first match of the county match. After playing four matches, he got injured once again. He has played 4 Tests, 4 ODIs and 31 T20Is for India so far.
