Tata Steel’s Vice President of Technology and New Materials Business Wing Debashish Bhattacharya has said that the company has received an order worth Rs 145 crore to replace the seating system of all 22 Vande Bharat trains running in the country. Bhattacharya said, “Vande Bharat trains will be fitted with uniquely designed seats. These seats can be rotated up to 180 degrees. These seats will give the feel of the seats on the plane. Such state-of-the-art seats will be used for the first time in Indian trains. He has said that the supply of these seats will start in the month of September this year and it will be completed within a year.

The maintenance cost of new seats will be much lower

Construction will start with the help of Netherlands company

According to Debashish Bhattacharya, Tata Steel is going to set up a greenfield facility to manufacture sandwich panels. Tata Steel is about to start this construction site in Khopoli, Maharashtra in partnership with a Netherlands-based firm. Here aluminum sandwich panels will be made for the interior of rail and metro coaches.
