Vacant Posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas: While unemployment is increasing continuously in the country, on the other hand the availability of employment in government institutions and the number of vacant posts is increasing rapidly. Due to the complicated and lengthy recruitment processes, youth face difficulty in getting jobs.
Whereas, due to the increase in the number of vacant posts after retirement, appointments are also being made on contract basis. However, their number is still very less. In such a situation, the number of vacancies is also increasing.

Kendriya Vidyalayas: Across the Country Vacancies in more than 12 thousand academic posts in
According to the Union Ministry of Education, there are vacancies for more than 12,000 academic posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. These are filled as per the procedures laid down from time to time. Not only this, more than 9,000 teachers have also been engaged on contract basis in these schools. These official figures were shared while answering a written question in the Lok Sabha on behalf of the Union Minister of State for Education, Annapurna Devi.

Maximum 1162 vacancies in Tamil Nadu
The maximum number of vacant teaching posts are in Tamil Nadu with 1162 vacancies in Kendriya Vidyalayas, 1066 in Madhya Pradesh and 1006 in Karnataka. Union Minister of State for Education, Annapurna Devi while sharing the data in Lok Sabha said that 12,044 academic posts and 1,332 non-academic posts are vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. Vacancies remain due to transfer, retirement from time to time.

A total of 9,161 contract teachers are employed in Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Devi said that filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the respective Recruitment Rules. He said that teachers are also engaged on contractual basis for temporary period by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to ensure that teaching-learning process is not disrupted. A total of 9,161 teachers are employed in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country on contract basis.
