New Delhi: For the first time in the history of the Commonwealth Games, a medal has come in the squash singles event. 35-year-old Sourav Ghoshal won the bronze by defeating the 2018 champion. India’s top squash player Saurav Ghosal defeated England’s James Willstrop 11-6, 11-1, 11-4. He had earlier lost in a one-sided match against New Zealand’s Paul Cole in the semi-finals on Tuesday. World number two Paul Cole defeated world number 15 Ghosal 3–0 (11 – 9, 11 – 4, 11 – 1) in straight games.

Saurav Ghoshal hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is called India’s superstar in squash, he has also received Arjuna Award, he also won silver medal in Commonwealth Games 2018 while he has won 5 bronze, one gold and one silver medal in Asian Games.
