Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Prithvi Shaw's stormy innings, CSK and KKR batsman's century, UP became a victim of upset

New Delhi: India’s domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has started. A total of 18 matches were played on the second day of the tournament on Wednesday. The results of 16 matches came in this but two could not be played due to rain. Captain Nitish Rana’s scintillating century helped Delhi register a 12-run win over Punjab. Kolkata Knight Riders star Rana scored a century of 107 runs in 61 balls with the help of nine fours and seven sixes as Delhi posted a strong total of 191 for four in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab’s team could only manage 179 for five in which Ishant Sharma took two wickets for 35 runs in his four overs.

In Group A match, Mumbai beat Madhya Pradesh by 8 wickets. MP scored 181 runs with the help of Rajat Patidar’s 67 and Venkatesh Iyer’s 57. Mumbai chased down the target in the 17th over itself. Prithvi Shaw hit 5 fours in the first over. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 66.

Results of other matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday

Assam beat Uttarakhand by 7 wickets. Uttarakhand scored 144 runs with the help of 52 runs from Swapnil Singh. Assam won with 7 balls to spare.

Tripura beat UP by 6 wickets in a big upset. The team achieved the target of 164 runs in the last over.

Meghalaya got 83 runs defeat against Haryana. Amit Mishra, Rahul Tevalia and Nishant Sindhu took 3 wickets each.

Tamil Nadu beat Odisha by 5 wickets. Baba Aparajit played an unbeaten innings of 63 runs.

Baroda lost by 4 wickets against Saurashtra. Samarth Vyas scored 97 runs with the help of 9 sixes.

Maharashtra lost by 5 wickets even after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 112 runs. The army team achieved the target of 186 runs in the last over.

Hyderabad won by 4 runs against Puducherry. Tilak Verma played an innings of 57 runs.

Rajasthan beat Vidarbha by 9 wickets. Aniket Chaudhary took 4 and Rahul Chahar took 3 wickets.

Mizoram lost by 7 wickets against Railways. Railways achieved the target of 97 runs in the 13th over.

Goa beat Manipur by 7 wickets. Nitesh Sedai scored 53 runs. Arjun Tendulkar took 2 wickets for Goa.

Jammu and Kashmir beat Arunachal Pradesh by 173 runs. Shubham Khajuria scored 85 runs in 39 balls. In reply to 238 runs, Arunachal’s innings was reduced to 65 runs.

– Chandigarh beat Sikkim by 66 runs. 5 out of the top 7 batsmen of Sikkim could not even play the account.

Bihar beat Nagaland by 6 wickets. Anuj Raj took 4 wickets.

Kerala beat Karnataka by 53 runs with the help of Mohammad Azharuddin’s 95 runs. Mayank Agarwal could not even open the account.

Along with Andhra and Hyderabad, the match between Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya was inconclusive.
