Stock Market Today: Indian stock markets fell nearly 1% at the opening of the day today. The BSE Sensex dropped below 76,550, while the Nifty 50 was near 23,175.
At 9:16 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 840 points or 1.08% lower at 76,550. The Nifty 50 was down 262 points or 1.12% at 23,175. The rupee fell 23 paise to hit its all-time low of 86.27 against the US dollar in early trade.
The domestic market remained sluggish on Friday as crude oil prices rose due to supply concerns, along with the dollar index strengthening. Market observers are indicating a possible continued consolidation, while attention remains on US non-farm payrolls data.
It is difficult to say how much further the Indian stock market will fall. As of now, Nifty 50 is trading near its most crucial support zone. If the market continues to fall today, the next support is 22900.
US markets fell sharply on Friday, with the S&P 500 losing its 2025 gains, after strong employment data raised inflation concerns and strengthened expectations of cautious Fed rate cuts.
