Rishabh Pant is sometimes irresponsible… Sanjay Manjrekar gets angry while praising him

Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is known for his outspoken remarks. Something similar has happened once again. Sanjay Manjrekar spoke his heart while praising Pant, who scored a brilliant century in the last match of the ODI series against England. He has said that even though Rishabh Pant occasionally gets out playing irresponsible shots, he should not be questioned when it comes to his responsibility for the India team.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Manjrekar also said that Pant and all-rounder Hardik Pandya can form the backbone of India’s middle order provided they are not injured. “He (Pant) sometimes gets out playing irresponsible shots but he doesn’t shy away from taking responsibility and Rishabh Pant has the skills to play different shots,” he added.

Manjrekar said, “For example, winning runs (in the third ODI against England), it’s a part of his style of play, he has a lot of shots, so given the responsibility I think this player is unbelievable.” He said that if someone is not responsible and calm, then it is difficult to play the kind of strokes that Pant plays. Pant played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 125 runs as India beat England by five wickets in the third ODI to win the three-match series 2-1.

Pandya (71 off 55 balls) along with Pant shook England with their batting in the middle order after the top three batsmen Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were dismissed cheaply. Manjrekar said, ‘Yes, just hope Hardik maintains his fitness. No problem about Rishabh Pant. I was completely impressed with what we saw in that last ODI. Thanks to Rishabh Pant for staying till the end to help India win the match.
