Business: The domestic stock market closed with a decline on Tuesday. During this period, Sensex fell 297.07 points or 0.36% and closed at 82,029.98. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty 50 index fell 81.85 points or 0.32% to close at 25,145.50.
In the 30-share Sensex, shares of Bajaj Finance, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel, TCS and NTPC recorded the biggest decline. These fell between 1.4% and 1.8%. Broader markets also remained under pressure. The small-cap and mid-cap indices closed down about 0.9% and 0.8%, respectively.
LG Electronics India, which is not part of the benchmark indices, made a strong debut. It listed at a 50% premium to its issue price and closed with a gain of 48.2%. It was the strongest performance for a billion-dollar IPO since Eternals in 2021. Rupee fell 13 paise to close at all-time low of 88.81 (provisional) against the US dollar.
