Business: Leaving the Justin Trudeau era behind, India and Canada have started taking strong steps towards improving relations. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has indicated that Canada will cooperate with India in AI, trade in critical goods as well as critical minerals. Despite improving relations between China and India, China’s stance on critical minerals has raised concerns in the world community. It is believed that in the matter of critical minerals, India is moving forward by keeping Canada as an option.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, who is on a visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning. It is believed that there has been a discussion between the two leaders on strengthening mutual relations. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has said that India is considering Canada as a ally country and is working with it to increase mutual investment and trust in important sectors.
Anita Anand came to India for the first time after assuming office
Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand took charge a few days ago. This is his first visit to India after assuming office. But this visit of Anita Anand to India is considered very important in the sense that just before this, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had met the NSA of Canada. After this, the trade and commerce ministers of both the countries also met. After several level meetings, now Anita Anand’s visit to India is being linked to moving forward towards important agreements between the two countries.
S Jaishankar clarified his stance on relations
S Jaishankar, in the context of Anita Anand’s visit to India on Monday morning, said that after PM Modi’s meeting with the Canadian PM, it has become clear that India wants to move forward in a positive environment and is seeing Canada as a positive ally. He said that both the countries are working together in G20 as well as in many influential forums of the world. In such a situation, better coordination between the two countries can play an important role in taking the world towards peace and stability.
