Karnataka Election 2023: Election Date Announced in Karnataka, voting on May 10

The Election Commission announced the dates of the elections in a press conference today. While the date of polling has been fixed for May 10, the date of counting of votes has been fixed for May 13. Significantly, this time the term of the assembly is ending on May 24.

According to the Election Commission, for this election, 58,282 polling stations have been set up in a total of 224 assembly seats in Karnataka. There will be an average of about 883 voters at each polling station. Not only this, 1320 polling stations will be managed by women officers. This time the commission has talked about setting up 240 model polling stations in Karnataka.

The Election Commissioner said that the target has been to add new voters in Karnataka. However, facilities have also been made for elderly voters. He said that people above 80 years of age would be able to vote from home.

Rajeev Kumar said that there are 9,17,241 first-time voters in the state between the age of 18 to 19 years. Not only this, 1,25,406 youths of 17 years of age have registered their names in the voter list by giving advance applications.

The Election commissioner informed about the process

The press conference of the Election Commission was addressed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar. He informed that out of total of 224 assembly seats in Karnataka, 36 seats are reserved for SCs and 15 seats are reserved for STs. A total of 5,21,73,579 voters will exercise their franchise in this election.
