In 1944, he entered the acting world. He made his acting debut with Prithviraj Kapoor working in his theatre. After this, Kamal Kapoor appeared in the 1946 film ‘Door Chalen’. This was his debut film. This film did not work, but, Kamal Kapoor’s luck opened. After this he did films with many big heroes and heroines. In the year 1948, he played the role of Raj Kapoor’s father in the film ‘Aag’. This was Raj Kapoor’s first film as a director-producer.
