How much is the fee?
UIDAI has made changes in the fees related to Aadhaar update, so that people can easily update their information at less cost. Under the new rules, the fee for changing demographic information like name, address and date of birth has now been fixed at ₹75. Whereas for biometric updates, like fingerprint, photo or iris scan, ₹ 125 will have to be paid. The good thing is that online document update will remain absolutely free till June 14, 2026. Apart from this, biometric updates of children aged 5–7 years and 15–17 years have also been kept completely free, so that parents can easily correct the Aadhaar of their children.
What will happen if the link is not made?
UIDAI has also clarified that linking PAN with Aadhaar is now mandatory for all citizens. Its last date has been fixed as 31 December 2025. If a person does not link his PAN and Aadhaar by this deadline, his PAN card will be deactivated from January 1, 2026. Linking Aadhaar has also been made mandatory for new PAN applicants, making the identification process easier and faster. Also, banks and financial institutions have been instructed to complete e-KYC of their customers through OTP or video verification, so that the entire process can become digital and paperless.
