The government has asked public sector banks to set up a single national helpline for redressal of customer complaints. This helpline number should be 3 to 4 digits and complaints of all banks can be made on this number. There should be such a system in which the customer can register his complaint in whichever bank or in any of its branches or departments. It should be like hub and spoke model. Negotiations with banks were started in this matter in September and now work on this proposal has also started.

No action is taken on complaints
The government had received complaints that the complaints of customers are not being resolved on the bank helpline or contact number. After this, the government has asked the banks to make such a system. All banks will have information on a single helpline and grievances will have to be resolved in a stipulated time. Banks will depute PSB Alliance to coordinate and develop an appropriate system to oversee the functioning of the helpline.
