The Government of India will use all policy measures and support mechanisms to provide relief to domestic exporters amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave this assurance on Friday. He said that the government has formed an inter-ministerial group to daily review the problems related to exports. This group is regularly interacting with exporters to understand their problems and feedback.

What did Goyal say about the ongoing tension in West Asia?

The minister said that the government will soon formalize such measures, which can provide relief and confidence to exporters. After the recent incidents in West Asia and the joint attack on Iran by America and Israel, exporters are facing difficulties in sending goods to that region. Goyal said that the Commerce Ministry is also in constant talks with the Shipping Ministry and shipping companies on this issue, so that the problems of the exporters can be resolved. The government is also exploring options on the issue of increasing freight charges, so that the burden on exporters can be reduced.

What is the freight charge?

Actually, freight charge is the fee that is charged for transporting goods or goods from one place to another. This payment is made to the transport service providing company such as shipping company, truck operator, rail or air cargo. He assured that India will continue to fulfill all the promises made to its foreign buyers. He said that even during the Covid-19 pandemic, India had fulfilled its international obligations, thereby identifying the country as a reliable partner.
