Birmingham: Condemning the hatred towards gay people, Indian athlete Dutee Chand said that ‘LGBT’ people should be allowed to live without any fear of harassment. Dutee is the first player in the country to openly admit to being a lesbian. But after this announcement, he had to face criticism from his family. Now she is here, along with UK diver and Olympic gold medalist Tom Daly (gay athlete), to talk to athletes from Commonwealth countries about homosexuality.
However, despite the language barrier, Dutee’s confidence was boosted for a few moments with Daly. He said, ‘The music was playing, he taught me some ‘steps’. Had a lot of fun. I also got a chance to meet ‘Prince Charles’. She said, ‘I couldn’t talk much because I don’t speak English but she told me, ‘Don’t be afraid’ and ‘I follow you’. It definitely boosted my confidence and we did some dancing too. This memory will always be there.
