Coal India: The responsibility of importing coal entrusted to Indonesian company, will be supplied in August and September

Public sector company Coal India Limited has handed over the responsibility of importing 7.91 lakh tonnes of coal for energy producing companies to Indonesian company Bara Daya Energy. According to sources, this imported coal is to be supplied to the power companies in the months of August and September.

Let us tell you that due to the shortage of coal with the energy generating companies amid the scorching heat in the months of April and May, the uninterrupted supply of electricity in the country was affected. After that the government had decided to import coal.

According to sources, the contract letter was issued on July 9 to L1 vendor for medium term tender for East and West Coast supplies.

Let us tell you that the power producers who have shown interest in buying imported coal of Coal India include companies like CESE, Adhunik Power, Rattan India, Sai Wardha, Avantha Power and Infrastructure Limited, KSK and ABC India.

According to sources associated with Coal India, where 4.295 lakh tonnes of coal is to be imported in the month of August 2022, 3.615 lakh tonnes of coal is to be imported in the month of September.

According to sources, during the meeting of the Coal India Board held on July 8, the short term tender issued for import of 2.416 metric tonnes of coal was canceled. At the same time, it was decided to continue the process of importing coal under medium term tender for East and West Coast.
