Cheteshwar Pujara is breaking records on record, celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of his form

Hov: India’s Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara hit a career-best 174 in List A here on Sunday, scoring his second century within 48 hours as Sussex scored 378 for six against Surrey in the Royal London Cup ODI Championship. On Friday, Pujara scored 107 runs in 79 balls against Warwickshire but his team had to face defeat.

Batting first at the small county ground in Hove on Sunday, the Sussexes had lost two wickets for nine runs in four overs. Tom Clarke (106 runs in 104 balls) and Pujara then took the innings by adding 205 runs for the third wicket. Pujara, who averages around 55 in List A cricket, completed his 13th century in the 50-over format, hitting 20 fours and five sixes in his 131-ball knock.

Pujara returned to the pavilion in the 48th over. He also hit sixes on fast bowlers Matt Dunn, Conor McCreery and Ryan Patel, besides spinners Amar Virdi and Yousef Majid. Left spinner Krunal Pandya was Warwickshire’s most successful bowler at the Grace Road Ground in Leicester. He took three wickets for 69 runs against Leicestershire in another List A match.

Leicester scored 338 for eight in 50 overs. Pandya dismissed Louis Kimber (78), South African internationals Wian Mulder (68) and Aaron Lillee (33). India’s experienced Test fast bowler Umesh Yadav took two wickets for 58 runs in 10 overs while bowling brilliantly for Middlesex. He sent Somerset openers Andrew Umaid (10) and captain James Ryu (114) to the pavilion.

Umesh has so far taken 13 wickets in four matches. Somerset scored 335 for six in 50 overs. Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini, playing for Kent, did not get any wicket. Northamptonshire’s team was reduced to 210 runs. During this, Saini spent 43 runs but he did not get any wicket.
