The Ministry of Consumer Affairs will give the right to repair such purchased goods to the customers. This will also eliminate the reliance of the consumer on the original manufacturer for repairs. The purpose of granting the right to ongoing repairs is to strengthen the customers. For this a committee was constituted which would take the final decision on this.
Goods will be made at low price and in stipulated time
Through the new structure, the goods will be repaired at a reasonable price and in a timely manner. This will put pressure on the manufacturing companies to make such goods which are durable. The department said that it has been observed that companies manufacture such goods which do not last after a stipulated time.

In the very first meeting of the committee, Nidhi Khare has identified the right to improve and repair farming equipments, mobile phones, tablets, consumer goods, motor vehicles, their equipment. Issues such as loss of warranty rights on external repairs were also discussed in this meeting. Also there are frequent delays by companies in the production and repair of short lasting products.
