Badminton CWG: Lakshya Sen trampled the world champion, Sindhu scolded, India in the final of badminton mixed team, medal confirmed

The stormy journey of the Indian badminton team continues in the Commonwealth Games 2022. A star-studded team like PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen thrashed Singapore 3-0 in the semi-finals of the mixed team event to not only qualify for the title but also secure a medal. His title match will be against Malaysia. Lakshya Sen defeated defending world champion Loh Keen Yoo. This young shuttler surprised everyone.

Men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Reddy and Chirag Shetty, who took the lead in the men’s doubles, gave India a semi-final lead with a 21-11, 21-12 win over Yong Kai Terry Hee and Andu Jun Kian Kwek. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu then registered a one-sided 21-11, 21-12 win over 19th ranked Jia Min Yeo to extend India’s lead 2-0.

The third match between Sen and Loh was the most anticipated of the semi-finals, with the 10th-ranked Indian facing 9th-ranked Singapore. Sen made a slow start and Loh took a 4-0 lead in the first game. He, however, made a comeback and leveled the score at 6-6. The Indian did not look back after an 11-10 lead and won the first game 21-18. After this, registering a 21-15 win in the second game, ensured India’s medal.

Sen said after the match- It was a good match against him. I knew what to do today. The plan worked today. Really happy that India are in the final again. After the first match, Rankireddy and Shetty also thanked the audience. Shetty said- It was a really important match. Whenever he used to chant the slogan of India India, we used to get his hair stood up. Let us tell you that earlier the women’s team medal was confirmed in lawn balls.
