Commonwealth Games 2022: India’s weightlifter Ajay Singh was looking to win the gold medal in the men’s 81 kg weight category of the Commonwealth Games 2022, but at the last moment he slipped to the fourth position and the medal kept coming. This whole game happened in just 6 kg. Gold medal winner Chris Murray (144 + 181) of England set the record with a weight of 325 kg, while Australia’s Kyle Bruce (143 + 180) took the silver medal with 323 kg. The bronze medal went to Nicolas Vacone (140 + 180) of Canada. He lifted 320 kg, while Ajay lifted 319 kg.

The star weightlifter of India lifted 137 kg in the first attempt in the snatch, while lifting 140 in the second attempt and 143 kg in the third attempt, remained in the second position. Australia’s Kyle Bruce also lifted 143 kg here. Both of them were tied after the snatch round. Bruce had lifted this weight in the first attempt itself, while in the remaining two attempts he was successful in lifting the weight. On the other hand, Chris Murray of England lifted the maximum weight of 144 kg.

The 25-year-old young weightlifter lifted 172 kg in the first attempt of clean and jerk and 176 kg in the second attempt. He had reached number one with 319 kg. But England’s Chris Murray, Australia’s Kyle Bruce and Canada’s Nicolas Vakone overtook them. In the last lift, Ajay failed to lift 180 kg, while Murray lifted 181 kg. At the same time, Bruce lifted 180 kg.

It is worth mentioning that he has previously won gold medals in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in 2019 and 2021, gold in Commonwealth Junior Weightlifting Championships in 2015, 2016, and silver in 2017.
