After Wipro, Infosys fired many employees due to moonlighting

Like Wipro, Infosys has also fired several employees in recent months due to moonlighting. CEO Salil Parekh said, “We have found employees working in two different companies where there are privacy issues, so we have fired them within 12 months.” He did not mention a figure. Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji had said a few weeks ago that the company had laid off 300 employees due to moonlighting.

Parekh said Infosys is planning to introduce a policy to allow employees to work outside the company. He said that Infosys has set up a platform called Accelerate where employees can work on internal work and external projects. If anyone in the company wants to do external work, he/she will be free to do so.

Company CEO Salil Parekh said, “On an average 4000 people apply for these jobs in a quarter and out of this 600 people get selected. We support the aspiration of our employees to have a desire to learn in addition to work. We are developing more comprehensive policies ensuring that contractual confidentiality commitments are fully respected. However, we do not support doing double duty.

CFO Nilanjan Roy said, “Infosys added over 10,032 employees in the second quarter, taking the total workforce to 3.4 lakh. The company has hired 40,000 freshers in the first half of the financial year. There is no delay in onboarding the freshers. Voluntary job losses declined to 27.1% in the September quarter from 28.4% in the previous quarter.
