Ross Taylor: Rajasthan Royals owner slapped me during IPL, Ross Taylor’s sensational allegation

New Delhi: Former New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has retired from cricket. Earlier this week his autobiography ‘Black and White’ was released. Taylor has made many revelations in this book. In this, there is also a disclosure about IPL. Taylor has written in the book that he was slapped by the owner of Rajasthan Royals during IPL. Taylor joined Rajasthan in 2011 after being at RCB for the first three seasons of the IPL.

Mara due to being out on zero
According to Ross Taylor, this happened to him because of being out on zero. The incident happened after the match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Taylor wrote, ‘Rajasthan played against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Against the score of 195, I was lbw for a duck. Afterwards the team, support staff and management were at the bar on the top floor of the hotel. Warney was accompanied by Liz Hurley. One of the owners of the Royals said to me, ‘Ross, we didn’t pay you a million dollars for your out on zero’ and slapped me in the face three or four times.

He was laughing and they were not loud slaps but I am not sure if it was done in jest. I was not going to make an issue in the circumstances of that time, but I could not imagine that such an environment could happen in professional sport.

Such was the IPL career
Ross Taylor got a chance to play in the IPL between 2008 and 2014. During this, he scored 1017 runs in 54 innings at an average of 25.43 and a strike rate of 123.72. His biggest innings was 81 runs. Apart from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals, he was also a part of Pune Warriors and Delhi Capitals.
