Tur Dal: On the rising prices of Arhal Dal, the Center told the states, keep a watch on the stock of traders

The central government has advised the states on the increasing prices of tur dal since the second week of July. It said, States and Union Territories should ensure that traders and warehousing disclose their capacity. At present, the central government has a buffer stock of 38 lakh tonnes of pulses. On Friday, the Consumer Ministry said, all states should upload the data on the website on a weekly basis.

Stockists are creating artificial shortage
The ministry said that there are reports that some sections of stockists and traders are creating artificial shortage of pulses to push up the prices. After a slow progress in sowing of Kharif compared to last year, tur dal has picked up pace from the second week of July. According to ministry data, the price of pulses on July 12 was Rs 102.89 a kg. On Friday, it reached Rs 108.57.
