8.30 lakh cooperative societies in the country
He said that there are 8.30 lakh cooperative societies in the country. Apart from this there are state co-operative banks. There are 351 District Co-operative Banks, which have 14,000 branches. Apart from this, we have inherited a large group of 95 packs. Shah said that a strong building can be made by combining all these. It can be the basis of the financial economy of the country.
Have to devise a different strategy: Shah
He said that a different strategy would have to be made for the development and expansion of cooperatives across the country. The district cooperative will have to work after making a five-year strategy. Computerization is being done for modernization of PACS. This will bring transparency in their working and the system will be empowered. This will benefit the farmers, as only PACS gives loans to farmers with a humane approach. Therefore, more and more farmers will have to be added to this.
