hear the news

Indian airlines will have to share the PNR details of passengers with customs authorities within 24 hours of the departure of international flights. Notification in this regard has been issued by the government. It is believed that this step has been taken by the government to stop those who leave the country by breaking the law in the country.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a notification in this regard (which works under the Ministry of Finance) on 8 August in the name of ‘Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022’.

After this, airline companies will now have to share passengers’ names, contact details and payment details with customs authorities 24 hours before international flights. This move will help the security agencies to crack down on those fleeing the country in violation of economic laws and those involved in smuggling.

Explain that with this decision of the government, India has joined the list of 60 countries where security agencies collect PNR details of passengers before international flights. Let us inform that during the budget of the year 2017, the government had discussed sharing of PNR details of airline companies, but it could be implemented only after the issue of jam notification.
