The son of famous singer Udit Narayan got into music in Aditya’s ghutti. Aditya Narayan, who has turned 35, has been singing songs for 30 years. He has again become the host of the 13th season of the television show ‘Indian Idol’.
He considers his song in the recently released Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Shamshera’ a big achievement. He also says, ‘We all have grown up watching Yash Raj Films cinema since childhood.
It was also my dream to sing for a Yash Raj Films picture. With the film ‘Shamshera’ that was completed.’ Aditya Narayan believes that the music of Hindi films is also changing with the passage of time.
People just don’t have time to listen to songs anymore. He also insists that there is no dearth of work for the singers coming to the entertainment world in the present era and today’s singers are earning more money from stage shows than they get by singing in films. An exclusive conversation with him…
What do you think about new age music,
I have to say that in the new era, apart from the songs of films, many singers and composers are taking out their songs. The world has become too big now. The industry has also become huge. Gone are the days when only singers like Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik used to sing songs. Now the atmosphere has completely changed, now there are different types of audience. Every audience has its own preference. As big as Jubin Nautiyal is today, so are other singers like Faizal, Salman Ali and Prateek Kuhad.
But the shelf life of earlier songsShe doesn’t see anymore. People still hum your father’s songs, which song of yours will people remember after 20 years?
Whatever work I do, I do it sincerely. I am not one of those musicians who sing a lot of songs. do a lot of work. I do only a select number of works, whatever I sing, I am very focused on that. Right now at the age of 35, it is very difficult to say which song will be remembered. I think my better work is yet to come. My father sang his first hit song ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ at the age of 34. I consider myself very lucky that I have done so much work at such a young age.
Still there will be some song which is very close to the heart,
My first film as a lead actor was ‘Shapit’. I find the song ‘Tere Bina’ from that film very special. My Jo costar Shweta Aggarwal from that film is now my wife. We have a lovely daughter. Shweta is very important in my life. And, the song of that movie too. Apart from this, in the film ‘Ramleela’, I went to ‘Tatt Tatd’ for Ranveer Singh. This song proved to be a milestone in my career. The song ‘Jee Huzoor’ from ‘Shamshera’ is also very special for me.
AndWhat about your dad’s favorite songs?
My father is an institute. I am also his biggest fan. He is the only singer of his era who is still singing. I love all the songs of his movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. Papa has done a great job with AR Rahman. The song ‘Ae Ajnabee’ from the film ‘Dil Se’, all the songs of the film ‘Lagaan’ are unmatched. Apart from these, songs from many movies like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Veer Zaara’ are my very favorite songs.
