Chinappa reaches quarterfinals of squash women’s singles
India’s veteran squash player Joshna Chinappa defeated New Zealand’s Caitlin Watts 3-1 to reach the quarterfinals of the women’s singles at the Commonwealth Games. Joshna, an 18-time national champion, won 11-8, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6. She will now face Canada’s Holly Naughton. Naughton defeated Efa Ageman of Malaysia 3-0. Joshna, who was trying to win the first Commonwealth Games gold, was 3-5 in the first set but after leveling 8-8, she won 11-8. Watts came back after winning the second set but Joshna did not give him a chance in the third and fourth sets.

Badminton: The Indian badminton team, which has already booked a place in the quarter-finals, continued its stellar performance by defeating Australia 4-1 in the final Group A match of the mixed team competition. Gymnastics: Indian gymnast Yogeshwar Singh finished 15th in the men’s all-round final of the artistic gymnastics event. The gymnast from Haryana, who has participated in the World Championship three times, scored a total score of 74.700 in the event. Yogeshwar was the only Indian male gymnast to qualify for the all-round final.
