Born in Delhi, Manika dropped out of Jesus and Mary College to focus on table tennis. During this time, he got an offer to train at Peter Carlsen Academy in Sweden, but he also rejected it and decided to touch new heights in table tennis by staying in the country. In the early stages of her career, Manika Batra wanted to make her mark like BP Sindhu and Saina Nehwal. PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal are big names in badminton. Both these players have won many medals for the country. Both Sindhu and Nehwal have won medals in the singles event at the Olympics.
Manika started her career with a silver medal in the U-21 category at the Chile Open in 2011, her performances at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and Glasgow Commonwealth Games were underwhelming and she lost in the quarterfinals. After this, he made his identity known to everyone by winning the gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games.
