He said, ‘Two innings of ODIs were my confidence booster. West Indies are a good team and we contributed to the team in two matches. One while batting first and the other while chasing runs. These innings have helped me boost my confidence, I hope to do better in the third match.
Gill further said, ‘I started the innings with Dhawan, which gave us hope to do better. Maybe in the third match also I will get a chance to play as the opening batsman with the captain. I started well in the last matches and kept going but unfortunately I could not convert it into 100, due to which I was angry with myself how I got out.
Gill admitted that achieving 300-plus scores in both innings at the Queen’s Park Oval has helped him deliver his best with the bat. Gill also spoke about how head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour are helping him improve during the practice sessions. I keep having conversations about my batting with both the coaches.
Vikram sir gives my inputs on my technique and the areas I can work on. Rahul sir gives advice on handling situations and share his experience with me as he has played cricket all over the world.
