Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting feels that it will be difficult for Pakistan to win the ICC T20 World Cup this year if skipper Babar Azam does not score runs in the tournament. Pakistan’s Waqar Younis recently said that his former team has a good chance of winning the second T20 World Cup title in Australia, but Ponting is not convinced.
“If Babar doesn’t score runs in the tournament, I don’t think he can win,” Ponting said in the latest episode of ICC Review. Their openers are very important and their new bowlers are also very important, but the role of spin bowler in Australia can be a bit more difficult with wickets which probably won’t help them.
Notably, it was Ponting’s team Australia, who knocked out Pakistan in the semi-finals in the last season of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
