Study Abroad: If you want to study masters from United Kingdom then this news is for you only, check here

If you want to get Masters degree in UK from United Kingdom (UK) then there is good news for you. India and the United Kingdom (UK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to recognize each other’s education certificates, including A-level, graduation and master’s. Notably, the move is expected to resolve the long-standing issue of the equivalent of a one-year master’s degree and encourage more Indians to apply to UK universities in the future.

Let us inform you that a one-year master’s degree from the UK is not considered equivalent to a two-year master’s degree offered in India. Students with a one-year master’s degree from the UK have to apply for an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities. Students with a one-year master’s degree from the UK are also not considered eligible for government jobs or PhD in India. However, professional degrees in engineering, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, law and architecture are still not covered under the new MoU.

The United Kingdom has been a major destination for Indian students. Among non-EU countries, India is the second largest source of students after China. According to UK government figures, Indian students represented 19% of all non-EU enrollments in 2020/21 – from less than 20,000 students in 2016/17 to more than 84,000 students in 2020/21. The UK government sees the new MoU as a big boost to its education sector in the post-Brexit era.
