Players participating in Swimming, Athletics, Gymnastics, Squash, Hockey will reside in ‘Commonwealth Games Village Birmingham’, while players participating in Badminton, Boxing, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Triathlon will stay in ‘Commonwealth Games Village NEC’. Players participating in wrestling, judo and lawn ball will be at the ‘Commonwealth Games Village Warwick’, while members of the women’s cricket team will be at the ‘Commonwealth Games Village City Centre’. Their matches will be held at the famous Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
The track team participating in the cycling event to be held in London will live in the ‘Satellite Village’. Along with this, the Code of Conduct (CoC) has also been shared with the players and officials. According to the CoC, ‘All players should encourage good sportsmanship and avoid making negative or derogatory statements against any official, coach, fellow participants or spectators.’
CWG 2022: Indian players will be different in Commonwealth Games, special arrangements for cricketers
New Delhi: The Commonwealth Games 2022 is hosted this time in Birmingham, England. The participating Indian players and officials will live in five different ‘villages’ where the women’s cricket team will be housed in a separate facility in Birmingham City Centre. Cricket matches will be held for the first time in the Games since 1998. India is sending a contingent of 215-member players to 16 events in the Games starting July 28. The entire team, including team officials, consists of 325 people.
