The opposition suffered another setback in the presidential election. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which is part of the opposition camp, on Thursday announced the support of NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in this election. Earlier, Shiv Sena has also announced voting in favor of Murmu.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren said that former governor and tribal woman Draupadi Murmu is the candidate in the presidential election. For the first time after independence, a tribal woman is going to get the distinction of becoming the President. He directed all party MPs and MLAs to vote for Murmu in the presidential election to be held on July 18.
Recently Murmu had visited the state to garner support for his candidature. During this, he had met Shibu Soren, chief of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Congress ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has 30 MLAs. On the other hand, the joint candidate of the opposition Yashwant Sinha is from Jharkhand, but the ruling party has given a jolt to the opposition by announcing the support of the NDA candidate.
