Business: There has been a tremendous increase in digital payments during festivals. This month, transactions worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore have taken place through UPI in 6 days. Transactions worth more than Rs 10 lakh crore were made through RTGS four times. During this period, transactions worth more than Rs 25,000 crore have also been done through National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) and Immediate Payment Transfer i.e. IMPS four times.
According to RBI data, the highest number of transactions through UPI took place on October 1. On this day, 70.56 crore transactions worth Rs 1.06 lakh crore were done through UPI. On October 6, Rs 1.02 lakh crore were transacted through 67.68 crore transactions, on October 8, Rs 1.01 lakh crore were transacted through 70.03 crore transactions and on October 9, Rs 1.02 lakh crore were transacted through 70.96 crore transactions.
According to the data, on October 10, 71.75 crore transactions took place through UPI. One lakh crore rupees were exchanged in this. On October 18, it increased to Rs 75.43 crore and Rs 1.02 lakh crore. However, on October 4, transactions of Rs 69.69 crore and Rs 99,228 crore took place and on October 15, transactions of Rs 69.98 crore and Rs 99,092 crore took place. Most transactions through IMPS are generally less than Rs 20,000 crore. But, during the festive season and especially during Diwali, IMPS transactions crossed Rs 25,000 crore four times this month.
Transactions worth Rs 11 lakh crore through RTGS
Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transactions have reached Rs 11 lakh crore this month. On October 1, Rs 11 lakh crore has been paid through 9.85 lakh transactions. Transactions reached Rs 10.20 lakh crore on 9 October, Rs 10.33 lakh crore on 13 October and Rs 10.12 lakh crore on 17 October.
