36,005 square feet space evacuated

Business: The Commerce Department successfully concluded the special campaign 5.0 related to cleanliness organized from October 2 to October 31, 2025. The objective of the campaign was to promote cleanliness, improve efficiency and remove pending grievances in the Department, its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and associated organizations. The department tried to streamline administrative processes, ensure timely resolution of issues and enhance workplace management and hygiene standards under this initiative.

The progress of Special Campaign 5.0 was closely monitored by the Nodal Officer of the Department and its field organizations. Active participation of officials of the Department and its PSUs and organizations was instrumental in furthering the success of the campaign. A total of 277 cleanliness drives were conducted, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday. During this period, revenue of about Rs 70 lakh was received from disposal of e-waste and scrap. Due to this, 36,005 square feet of office space was freed up.

During the campaign, an attempt was made to promote electric vehicles by installing charging points on a large scale at the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Limited (ECGC) headquarters in Mumbai. At the same time, initiatives were taken to reduce carbon footprint through installation of rooftop solar energy systems. Positive changes were also made in the office premises by increasing greenery and better parking facilities.

The lake near the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) complex was also revived. Awareness campaigns on digitization and records management, integrated solid waste management, e-waste were conducted during the initiative. Besides, electrical equipment and lifts were also inspected.
